weekending.

This weekend was definitely a solid one. On Friday night, Josh and I had a double-date with my friend Jenn and her boyfriend Lenny. We got vouchers for a (sort-of) cheapie dinner at this Italian place as well as vouchers to a comedy club show at the place right next door. Dinner was good, although the service was slightly lacking. But my first comedy show? A huge success, very funny and it was a great night. Saturday was the first dare I say it, warm, day in what has felt like literally forever. So what did we do? We went to Central Park of course and had a lovely stroll. We ran into two of Josh's friends and spent the afternoon enjoying tasty brews in the upper west side. Easter Sunday was relaxing, went on a morning run, followed by a big breakfast with eggs, bacon & pancakes with m&m's in them. All in all it was a very relaxing, solid weekend & I definitely felt very New York. ;)

twenty four.

a week ago today, on 3.21, I turned 24. 24. It sounds so much more adult. As my friends and I eloquently put it, by 24, you should really start to have your shit together, or at least be planning to have your shit together.

This birthday felt different to me in so many ways. For one, I did feel older, but in a good way, a great way, actually. And the biggest thing was, I realized that I felt so content. I'm working in the city I have always dreamed of being in and succeeding in; how many 24 year-olds can say that? I have the best friends and co-workers a gal could ask for. So many people I love came to the happy hour I had planned for after work. I had a great time and they all seemed to as well, and that's all I can really ask for. My boyfriend was amazing, got me the prettiest necklace, took me to the cutest little restaurant ever for lunch. To top it off, my parents came up to visit for the weekend and brought my beloved pug, Rupert, so that we could be reunited for some time. I also got to celebrate with more of my family in Newburgh, NY.

I mean, what more could I possibly ask for? It was nice to be reminded just how big of a year 23 was for me, how lucky I am now, and how great I think 24 will be.

I know, this is super cheesy and mushy, but I know I can get so bogged down with everything that stresses me out day in and day out, so it's nice to sit back every now and then and reflect on all the things that I'm truly lucky to have right now.

I'm excited to see what this year has in store!

Wednesday, February 1, 2012

oh, hello there, february.

how is it that we are a month into 2012 already? They always say time goes by fast, but it still seems to boggle my mind at just how quickly it all goes. Rather than thinking about time slipping away, I'm instead going to focus on the now, and think about all the things that make me happy it's february.

Jason Wu for Target, finally debuting on february 5. I mean come on, how cute/chic/fun are his clothes?! I have a feeling it may crash their site again like Missoni did, but here's hoping I can get my hands on at least one of these darling pieces!

Valentine's Day (duh). Whether you have a Valentine or not, I still tend to enjoy this holiday. In the dreary winter it's nice to see pops of pink and red in store windows and I will always have a soft spot for the cheesy little-kid Valentine's that you used to pass around in elementary school. (You choo-choo choose me?)

my mom's birthday - no explanation needed, who doesn't love celebrating/an excuse to have some cake?

a trip to NYC on february 24. I'll be heading to a concert & it's an excuse to see many of my Marist loves that I get to see much too little of.

happy february!
